Where does the 1 to 1 take place?
Currently the sessions take place in a therapy room in Burlington House School (SW6) or in the private practice in Shepherds Bush (W12).
When does the session take place?
For BHS students within school hours and in W12 by appointment. In Burlington House School we consider with the head of therapy & the form teacher which periods is best, so a minimum of lessons is missed.
How long are the sessions?
The Burlington House School sessions are 45min.
Does my child need to bring anything?
All materials are provided by dyslExperts.
Do you offer online sessions?
Not at the moment. The nature of activities require physical presence.
Does dyslExperts offer sessions outside Burlington House School?
Yes, from September 2023 onwards dyslExperts will open a private practice in W12, Shepherds Bush.
Is dyslExperts funded?
No, unfortunately not at the moment, it is a new, unique program.
What does dyslExperts provide that my child doesn’t receive in (a specialised) school?
Teachers focus on literacy and have to follow the curriculum. dyslExperts focusses on the bigger picture of dyslexic functioning, wellbeing and thriving in life.
How much does it cost?
1 to 1 mentoring, all art materials and session preparations included, £90 per 45min session.
Parents consultation (phone/online) is £30 per 20min session.
Fees are billed monthly and can be paid via online bank transfer. Billing details will appear on your monthly invoice.
When can my child start?
Whenever there is availability, anytime during the term.
Can my child try your service and then decide to commit for a term?
Yes, you can decide after the first 20min taster session if you want to commit for the term.
Do you require a term commitment with advance payment?
After the first taster session mentoring is booked for the duration of the full school term.
What if my child is ill or we have to cancel?
Cancellations must be confirmed in writing via email. Less than 48 hours notice will be charged.
What background do the practitioners have and are they dyslexic?
At the moment it is only Christien. Please see my bio for background.
Is there a focus on building a positive association around dyslexia?
Yes, it is the primary reason why I developed the dyslExperts program.
What do the sessions entail? Can you give an example of activities?
We start with creating ‘Brand Me’ and follow with exploring dyslexic well-being through creativity, see below example images.
How many sessions will my child need?
I recommend a minimum of 2 school terms. Most students became proper dyslExperts after 4 terms.
